As the name suggests, a solar phone battery charger harnesses the power of the sun (a.k.a solar power) to provide electrical energy to your gadgets or charge the battery. The benefit of these portable devices is that they do not require an external electrical power source to work, making them great for outside enthusiasts or people who many not have access to a power outlet immediately (like if you're at a music festival in the middle of the desert or midway through a beautiful hike).

At the Great Housekeeping Institute, we check tech items from waterproof speakers to gas leakage detectors. To evaluate solar charges, we take them to our basic light room and time how long it requires to completely charge each system. Then, we see the length of time it takes to charge different gadgets over 400 hours of battery draining pipes over our latest testing.
